During 2005, Juta concluded a comprehensive Black Economic Empowerment deal, the first major publishing house to take this important step. Imfundo Investments, a new company owned by three current non-executive directors, Prof. John Volmink, Ms Thandi Chaane and Dr Eltie Links, took up a 25% shareholding in Juta and Company. Juta staff also received shares in the company and shareholders benefited from a handsome special dividend.
